O Oracle: how does one keep one's eyes on the long-term goals without getting tangled in the minutia of every passing day?

I mean, I like the schedule hypercube for this, but for you I'll do a tarot spread.

Past: Page of Swords. Youthful energy, diplomacy, spywork, dexterity and the ability to be flexible.

Present: Two of Swords. Tension held in balance. Stalemate. Opposing forces equalizing to paralyzation.

Future: The Empress. Fruition, accomplishment, material wealth, mature flowers blooming.

Oracular advice: ... you've got too many carefully balanced demands, possibly created by your own ability to be responsive to your surroundings. Prioritize, make hard choices, and emphasize what will benefit your family and yourself -- financially and artistically -- in order to get out of the trap.

Past: Four of Cups. Stillness, the kindness of others. A surfeit of material pleasures. Pools of still water: thirst-quenching, and host to mosquito larvae.

Present: Ten of Wands. The heart tried by pain; refinement in fire. A burden that perhaps should not have been yours; ill-assigned responsibilities and misuse of power.

Future: Knight of Swords. The coming of fortune or misfortune. Domineering and charismatic persons ... with clean hearts and great courage.

Oracular advice: This is hard. This is going to hurt. But it is a time that you can use to become free of stagnation, take more chances, become yourself in a way you did not know you were capable of. However -- if you do not trust your partner? Don't go just yet.

Plant more agave and less xoconostle. Agave's easier to find, anyhow. And simpler than you think to grow.

O Oracle, I’m looking for a new job after 7 years in one organization; how do I figure out what I want to do for the next 7 years?

You've been still for a long time. But even in stillness you will have noticed directions of ease and directions of restraint. Now that you are frictionless -- are those directions of ease and restraint the same? Or have they changed?

a question for the oracle: how many times should one allow a person to disappoint one before giving up entirely?

Twice at most.

People disappoint; it is the nature of people. The salutatory point here is whether the disappointing person disappoints you again in the same fashion, after -- and this is crucial -- you have pointed out that you are disappointed and would like them to be otherwise than they have been.

Or, y'know, if they persist in being a disappointment in general, and you have witnessed this for some time now, perhaps you should contemplate whether or not you are content with being consistently disappointed.

You could stop being. Disappointed, or near this person, whichever you like.
